Los Angeles artist, Emily Colvin paints on glass. While starting her interest in painting in early grade school she carried on to Santa Monica College and obtained a BFA at Metro State University of Colorado. Playing with different mediums for several years she knew she always wanted to work with glass. With glass the obsession of being able to literally polish paintings was possible.  Expression through color, line, pattern and overall composition is Colvin’s form of journaling. Mentoring with mature and established artists and trusting the authentic self has become her main practice in the origination. There is a reverse process used to demonstrate all the layers are necessary, natural and forgiving. Since opening her studio known as Projects At Large in the skid row area of Downtown LA in 2016. She has been asked to create immersive sculptures that have graced the Empire Polo Field in Indio, Ca, has been featured on the cover of DOWNTOWN NEWS and is a staple artist in the Los Angeles Arts Hearts Fashion week. Hosting elaborate art shows, Colvin collaborates with musicians and dancers to help express how she can convey vulnerability, thought, and excitement to the viewers. “The idea is to constantly be making art.” -Emily Colvin
